Fall Tune Up

The autumnal equinox occurs as the sun crosses the celestial equator going south.

It is our official welcome to Fall, and seasonal transitions are a wonderful time to attune our body systems to the cosmic and environmental influences. After all, in Chinese medicine, we consider the body to be a microcosm of the macrocosm. And when our external environment shifts, our internal environments shift too!

Much like the leaves of a tree, our lungs also become dry this time of year.

Our bodies are designed to seek balance. It’s natural response to dryness is to create moisture. Makes sense, however, with the added influence of irritants, such as allergens, we often notice an over-abundance of mucus. You know what I mean…runny nose, congestion, sinus pressure…these are all a build-up of added moisture. “Better out, than in”, wouldn’t you say?

Acupuncture can assist in fine tuning this delicate balance, so that when the cooler air brings pathogens, they are less likely to get stuck in the sticky stuff and cause further discomfort. We want everyone to be able to enjoy the leaves, cooler temperatures and opened windows.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy transition into Fall.
